So I’ve finished making Ellen’s memorial square – as mentioned in the post July 21 below – picture above as you can see. Can’t remember how much I wrote about what it looks like but Simon picked the windmill design as she may have been conceived on Windmill Lane, and we added the flowers and beads as he loves nature and I wanted something tactile. The bit at the bottom is supposed to be the sea and is made with sheer metallic material scrunched up and then sewn on with metallic threads and sequins. I think it looks much better with the “frame” on it too, nice and finished so I will send it off to the Miscarriage Association and hope they will be able to use it.
Had a letter about the miscarriage published in the Guardian today – am quite proud of myself for managing to write about it in a lucid and non-hysterical way. Everyone, all my friends and family, have been really kind and supportive about it and sent nice comments so I feel really supported. Which is nice.
